On Tuesday, December 15th 2015, the remaining candidates for the Republican nomination for president gathered at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. Hosted by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer alongside Hugh Hewitt and Dana Bash, the “primetime” debate included (from left to right on stage) John Kasich, Carly Fiorina, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson, Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush, Chris Christie and Rand Paul and focused on foreign policy, especially on the future Commander-in-Chief’s role in combating the threat of ISIS (also known as Daesh, or the Islamic State). Full video of this debate can be found below.
The “undercard” debate, which included George Pataki, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, and Lindsey Graham, focused as well on foreign policy, and on recent comments by Donald Trump and others that Muslims coming into America, and Muslim American citizens, should face more scrutiny from the intelligence and defense communities. “Donald Trump has done the one single thing you cannot do,” Lindsey Graham said, “declare war on Islam itself.” Most on the stage agreed, though Rick Santorum noted that while “not all Muslims are jihadists … All jihadists are Muslim.” The Aside from Carly Fiorina, no candidate has moved up from an undercard debate to the primetime debate, and that looks unlikely to happen for Pataki, Huckabee, Santorum, or Graham.
Below is full video of the primetime debate, which began at around 8:30 Eastern Time.
